Tickets and Seating Arrangements for Chicago’s Apollo Theater and Aragon Ballroom
Not to be confused with New York’s Apollo, Chicago’s Apollo Theater was built by Jason Brett and Stuart Oken and first opened its doors to the public in 1978. Formerly, there was a theater with the same name on Randolph Street in Chicago that closed in 1987 and was subsequently demolished in 1989. Today, the Apollo Theater is located at 2540 N. Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Park, one of Chicago’s most prestigious neighborhoods. Redesigned by Michael Lustig into a breathtaking concrete and glass design, when you step into the Apollo Theater, the lobby welcomes every visitor with an art exhibit, full bar and souvenir counter.
The seating arrangement in the Apollo Theater is situated to provide the maximum enjoyment for every person in attendance. An intimate crowd of just 440 persons is situated in eleven rows around the three quarter thrust stage. Plush seating provides comfort and gives every member of the audience a thrilling theatrical experience. It has earned the Apollo Theater the reputation for being Chicago’s most innovative theater for families, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Emerald City Theatre Company, which is Chicago’s largest children’s theater company, calls the Apollo Theater home. The Aragon Entertainment Center, formerly recognized as the Aragon Ballroom was constructed by Andrew and William Karzas in 1926. Aragon is the name of a Spanish province in the northeast region of the country. The architecture is reflected by the now historic design of the Aragon Ballroom, which replicates a Spanish courtyard. The moment you walk into this space, you feel a sense of awe and appreciation for the area. From the terra cotta ceilings above down to the beautiful balconies and mosaic tiled archways, the Aragon Ballroom welcomes each visitor to experience a unique entertainment experience for every event that’s held here.
