Tips To Picking The Right Bamboo Window Shades
If you are considering bamboo window shades for your home, you made a good choice. Before you go out and purchase the blinds, there are a few things you will want to keep in mind.
Privacy Needs
If you want shades for privacy, then you need to think carefully about bamboo shades. They do offer good privacy but only when they are down. Unlike most blinds, you cannot turn them to open them slightly. Bamboo shades only offer the up or down position.
If you want more privacy (like in the bathroom), then you might want to consider a liner. Liners will offer you more privacy.
Blocking the Light
If all you want to do is block glare, then bamboo shades are a great choice. They work well for blocking out glare and the harsh rays from the sun. Of course, the type of bamboo will also effect how much light is allowed into the room, so choose carefully.
If you cannot find a bamboo shade that blocks enough light, then once again a liner is a good choice. There are a wide variety of liners. You can get some that block out most of the light or a liner that only blocks out glare.
Choosing the Right Size
Custom blinds mean that you can get a perfect fit. However, it means you need to measure accurately to get them to fit right. To make sure you get the right fit measure twice to be safe and follow the manufacture's instruction.
Height - When it comes to the length, you will always want to buy them too long rather than too short. In fact, bamboo blinds look good when they are a tad long. This way you can have them slightly rolled at the bottom. However, if you purchase them too short, all you did was waste your money.
Width - Unless you are buying them with an inside mount, getting them a little bit too wide is preferred. This way you are certain that it covers the sides of the window and provide complete privacy. If you are getting an inside mount, triple measure.
Price Check
Bamboo window shades come in a wide variety of prices. Price will depend on the quality of bamboo. However, you can get quality on a budget as well. Give yourself plenty of time and shop around. Discount blinds are available from quality shops. There is no need to skimp on quality just to save a few bucks.
