Put a supercharger on a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria (w/ police pkg)?

I'm going to be buying a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria (w/ police pkg). I was wondering if it would be relatively safe to install a supercharger to it's 4.6L V8 engine? Sadly it's only SOHC. But I'm hoping that won't add much to the problem. I know the added hp might be hard for a single cam to take care of. Specifically what type of super would you recommend (I would like to maximize torque)?

Look at procharger they have superchargers for most applications. Prochargers are self contained and need no external oil source. They are extremely efficient and produce awesome power. I would not worry too much about SOHC , your biggest limitations will be factory fuel system and the ability of the stock trans and rear end to take the load. If you keep your build on the mild side (> 8psi of boost) then you should have no problems. Procharger has a kit (PS1C) for a 4.6L in the mustang that @ 8psi produced a 55-65% gain
