Reef has now been brought out by the big VF group who owns brands like Vans and Wrangler and many many more and are developing the reef brand further. In 1984 the two Argentian brothers, Santiago Aguerre and Fernando Aguerre, were inspired by their love of the Californian surfing lifestyle and their passion for surfing and created the surf company Reef. With hard work, dedication and great beach lifestyle marketing from the Aguerre brothers, Reef became highly successful selling high quality active lifestyle sandals.
Reef blends the cool and casual surf lifestyle with sensuality and fashion to create vibrant surf clothing, and stylish, high quality sandals that are extremely comfortable. Each Year they develop the brand either further by either putting a drinks bottle into the sole or the latest game for kids. My favourite is the dr simmons, its just so comfortable and by recommending this style to people that do not usually wear flip flops take to them instantly. I always find once someone takes the plunge into reef flip flops they are more making an investment and will never leave the reef brand for cheap footwear.
Vans Shoes In the early 1960s Paul Van Doren worked on the American East Coast manufacturing shoes. Not content with this, Van Doren developed the idea of manufacturing shoes and selling them direct to the public. In 1966, Van Doren launched his first Vans shoe store in the Los Angeles suburb of Anaheim, approximately 20 miles inland from Huntington Beach, offering 3 styles of Vans shoes. Vans shoes sold like hot cakes and in the first year Van Doren opened a new retail store almost every week.
