These days one can easily get well crafted watches that are water resistant. These divers’ watches have been also called scuba diving watches because they are suitable for scuba diving, which is also referred to as saturation diving. According to the International Organization for Standardization there is a set standard for water resistant watches. This prohibits the term "waterproof" being used in watches, which a lot of countries have adopted. The term water resistance has been attained by the gaskets that form a watertight seal. This procedure is used in conjunction with a sealant that can be applied on the case, and helps to help keep water out. However, even this material should be tested in order to pass the test of being water resistant.
These unique watches ensure that diver’s are able to keep track of their time even as they are enjoying a dip in the ocean. These watches have been tested in theoretical depths and are marketed after that only. For instance, a watch that has a 50 meter rating would be water resistant under 50 meters of still water, and that too for a limited period of time. The stationary water resistance features are used for testing the water resistance through depressurizing a small chamber that contains the watch. Through this sensor the movement of the case and crystal to gauge can be measured. This also helps in evaluating the amount of pressure that the watch is losing and its speed. Usually the water does not touch the watch in this type of machine.
There is another type of machine used for testing the underwater watch that is used for very deep measuring tests. In such cases, the watch is immersed in a small container that is filled with water. Pressure is imposed on the chamber to see how the amount that the watch can withstand. Some other logical ways are used for testing the water resistance of a watch. The sapphire crystal case watches are used for diver’s watches as they add style and design to the watch.
The Professional Divers series by Politi Orologi includes the OR2805 Diver Pro II Swiss Made design. This watch has been made by Revue Thommen in Switzerland and has a 316L highly polished, solid stainless steel case. It is made of sapphire crystal and uses the Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement with 28.000 a/h - 25 Jewels. Other features of the watch include metal movement fixing ring, matt black dial with white Luminova Indices and a solid stainless steel case with screwed case-back. The watch has 30 ATM water resistances, and is perfect for those who love to go scuba diving.
